Today is a beautiful and special day: the Summer Solstice. Along with our artisans in Colombia, El Salvador and India, the team here at Hope For Women celebrates the longest day of the year, when (as the Latin roots illustrate) our sun (sol) stands still (sistere). Today we experience the vast power and the physical hugeness of our Earth and sun. But it is also important to recognize the strength of our global community, because humans make decisions that really impact environmental systems.

Hope For Women’s latest product, Peel Pals™, helps to lessen the detrimental impacts (like toxic packaging and unfair labor practices), and aims to contribute to some good impacts (like Fair Trade, healthy work environments, and recycled, Eco-friendly materials). Spring Giveaway Winner & don’t forget Earth Hour!

Congratulations to Chris Brown for winning our Spring giveaway for the multi-green, Tagua Layered Slice Earrings!  There were 20 entries! Thank you for all who participated. Another chance to win some Tagua will be coming up soon!

As we enter spring, another important date is approaching: Earth Hour.  Please join us during this one hour of darkness to support the earth and spread awareness.

This Saturday, March 26th at 8:30 pm will mark the start to Earth Hour, the 60 minute commitment to turn off all lights as a way to stand against climate change.  Last year this global initiative included participants from 128 countries from around our globe, the one thing we all share in common. Earth Hour is a means to raise awareness about sustainability issues, but is also a demonstration proving the importance of a giving people a voice and working together to ensure a better future for our planet.
